Enforcement action against planning breaches are highest in London

Thursday 11 April 2019

The 2018 statistics for enforcement notices and enforcement action shows that Barnet Council in London issued more planning enforcement notices than any other local authority in the UK.

This demonstrates their tough approach to tackling rogue landlords across the borough, using the Proceeds of Crime Act to target all those guilty of enforcement breaches.

They issued 179 enforcement notices compared to the 153 issued by Brent Council – who issued the second highest number of them – and 152 by Newham Council – who issued the third highest number. There were 41 councils in the UK who didn’t issue any.

If you have extended or converted your property without planning permission we recommend that you get in touch with us to discuss discreetly your options, whether to apply retrospectively or to obtain a lawful development certificate.

Please get in touch ASAP to avoid enforcement action by calling: 02031500183 or email enquiries@4dplanning.com
